After dealing with multiple major Crohn’s disease flares throughout her life, Rose and her gastroenterologist decided that the only way to live life was an ileostomy.
Initially, Rose's ileostomy was reversible to see if it would settle her Crohn's, which helped with the large bowel; however, Rose's perianal disease persisted. Seven months later, Rose had her large intestine, rectum and anus removed, and a permanent stoma formed. Though she's had her ups with her ileostomy, Rose wouldn't have life any other way. Rose credits her ileostomy with living life to the fullest, making her healthy and allowing her to work full time.
