About Me: Hi, I'm Dianne. I had a lower bowel resection in 2015 for Bowel Cancer. My body went into shock, and I spent three and a half years not being able to move away from a toilet and couldn't commit to anything because I had suffered lower resection syndrome. I saw a colorectal surgeon at Concord Hospital and was given the option of either irrigation or an end colostomy. I chose a colostomy after considering my lifestyle, and irrigation was not an option for me.I had the surgery in July 2019, and barring a few problems in the beginning, I have not regretted the decision at all. Not everyone is fortunate to be able to make an informed decision, but I still had to deal with the changed body image, lifestyle and daily life, but if I can help others, that would be a privilege.
