After living with treatment-refractory Crohn’s Disease for most of my life, I faced the prospect of waking up from bowel surgery with an ostomy as a child. However, it wasn’t until August 2022 that I became an Ostomate. Living with two different types of colostomies has been challenging, but it enabled me to have a life-saving stem-cell transplant in 2024.
My ostomy has never held me back and is something i wish i had known as a child. Having a stoma helped me physically and led me to my purpose in advocacy, for which i am very grateful.
